Projects
Mediterranean Garden
A new Mediterranean style home on a multi acre site in the Preston Hollow neighborhood of Dallas presented a wonderful design opportunity. The romantic aesthetics of Mediterranean design principles were incorporated throughout the garden. Detailing of beautiful stone, tile, and water along with lush plantings were the perfect compliment to the architecture of the new home.
Courtyard Garden
An antique terra cotta sculpture sets the tone for this peaceful courtyard garden. This low maintenance shady retreat is calm and soothing yet visually interesting. Texture from the palms, ferns and Japanese Maples are enhanced by the vibrant seasonal color. A Variegated Pittosporum provides a subtle contrast to the abundant shades of green.
Modern Pool
Clean, sleek modern lines create a dramatic pool and fountains that are enhanced only by their simplicity. Leuder stone walls and plantings provide visual depth to a rather narrow lot. Sheer descent waterfalls add a soothing sound while also affording a commanding focal point from the interior of the home. The sun ledge, complete with in-pool loungers, are the finishing touches to this beautiful project.
Formal Garden
A formal landscape design is a garden with a clear structure, geometric shapes and in most cases a symmetrical layout. Formal gardens are typically enclosed and protected by walls or hedges. In this design, a custom lattice fence classically defines the garden space. The formal arrangement, organization and layout of a garden can be achieved through the use of architecture, gravel and manicured plantings.
Colorful Planting Design
Planting designs consist of intricate combinations of plants based on color, size, form and texture. Seasonal color adds an additional layer of depth through the flower color and will often extend the bloom period. Here perennials and seasonal color are in a mixture with a statue of St. Francis as a focal point. With thought and planning, there can be seasonal interest throughout the garden for year around bloom and beauty.
Pool Cabana and Grill
An outdoor structure extends the use of the garden while providing shelter from the elements. A fireplace and built-in stone serving table enhance the usability of the interior of the space. Outside of the structure, gas lights and a fountain add movement and sound. No cabana structure would be complete without a well appointed outdoor kitchen. Typically an outdoor kitchen will consist of a sink, an undercounter refrigerator and great gas grill, warming drawer and often a shelf for a Big Green Egg.
Contemporary Landscape
Modern landscape design is an overall uncluttered aesthetic and the embodiment of "less is more." A design that may appear to be simple, but is actually a thoughtful and deliberate arrangement of the landscape elements. Good landscape design ultimately extends the architecture of the home into the landscape with a seemless connection. The use of steel planters, smooth concrete and grey gravel add layers of detail to the overall design.
Texas Modern Garden
This remodeled Highland Park home uses Texas limestone on the facade that is carried into the architecture of the landscape. A variety of plants provide color, interest and character to the garden. Stone retaining walls and steps solve the issue of an elevation change while adding structure to the garden. Simple, elegant stainless steel fountain wall spouts are a subtle surprise to welcome guests.
